I Love Fundraising Auctions!
I feel pretty lucky. Though the Schur Success Group sells all kinds of assets at auction, including real estate, I think the most rewarding thing we do is the time we spend helping non-profits raise funds for good causes.
Yes, we show up the night of the big event and we call bids. We get to wear the nice clothes and be part of big galas. From denim and boots to black-tie and diamonds. We’ve done it all. Shannon and I call it our “working date nights”.
But that’s just a small part of what we do. As fundraising consultants, we spend a great deal of time working with our non-profit clients to help plan their fundraising events and efforts.
Raising money is a big part of what we do. But it’s not the why. The “why” is the contribution we get to make to our community. The difference we help facilitate to make people’s lives better.
We have raised millions of dollars for non-profits over the years. But more importantly, it’s what has been done with those dollars that we’re very proud of. We’ve helped build a much-needed sports field for a local school. We’ve helped put technology in classrooms. We’ve been able to help fund teacher aides and assistants.
We’ve been able to provide veterinary services to shelter animals – and help them find their forever homes. We’ve helped fund new bicycle lanes and bicycle education throughout the state.
We’ve put food in people’s stomachs. We’ve helped provide shelter. We’ve been able to help our returning Veterans find the support they need to re-integrate with their families. We’ve been able to help prevent veteran suicides. Every event we work provides someone with something they otherwise wouldn’t be able to have.
We love being able to make a difference. We love working our clients and helping them understand all of the logistics of their events. We help them understand the implications of their decisions, from what items to sell to how the tables could be set-up and the rooms decorated. In a fundraising event, every detail makes a difference. We’re on a mission. It’s our mission to help make their missions possible.
